Sometimes I have to change my strategy to meet our goals in parenting our kids. My goal as a parent is not to create well-behaved children but instead children who desire to worship God in all they do and to have the self control to do so. This is were Happy Bear comes in.

Yes, it looks a little ghetto being taped to the end of a fly swatter but it serves the purpose. A gentle reminder that they are to act in a way that pleases God. If Mommy hears them yelling, if they start to fight, or do anything else that is not in adherence to our house rules then Happy Bear comes and gently taps them to remind them to act in a way that please God. If they need Mommy's help, which usually only happens when they are in a heated argument, then all they have to say is "Mommy, please help" I anticipate the the novelty of Happy Bear will be short lived and we will say goodbye to the idea by the end of the week. But sometimes methods of training are only for a season, no matter how long or short, and effect the change desired. Just one of the many tools in our constantly changing parental handbag. Happy Monday!
